Alien economics – The ideas economy

In the evolution of money, first comes barter, then goods like silver, gold and conch shells, then comes fiat currency, then cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin. What comes next? At each step of the way, people trade something which represents an idea – the idea of labour, or the idea of value provided. What if we could trade ideas themselves?

Ideas are the currency of gods – Episode 126

The Story: An economics lesson from aliens about ideas

There are many qualities which make for sound money – durability, recognisability, portability, acceptability, and so on. Gold and silver have many of these qualities, as does Bitcoin. Then, you might have heard someone say this idea: “Ideas are the currency of the 21st century.” Can ideas really function as money? Do they have what it takes?

Ideas certainly are durable. Some ideas have been around for thousands of years and still show no sign of slowing down. Ideas are certainly recognisable – but perhaps good ideas and mind-blowing ideas are only recognisable to certain people. Ideas are certainly portable – much more so than a cow or even an ounce of gold. Using radio waves, it’s possible that ideas could be transported between worlds, without even exerting much energy. With some other form of technology, some kind of telepathy, perhaps ideas could even be transported between universes. And naturally, when they arrived, they would be much more likely to be accepted as being valuable, compared to silver or the information for a Bitcoin transfer.

We can see, at least in these few respects, ideas might make very good currency, though there would still be many questions to be asked.

In this episode, we discuss how valuable ideas are, how they might be used as ideas, and what kind of ideas might be considered valuable. We also discuss Kurt’s success on the Steemit platform, and how it’s progressing as a medium.

My Clockwork Hometown – Episode 125

The Story: Returning to your home town, to find it exactly as you left it

Many travellers and adventurers, having spent years outside of the bubble they were born in, are often puzzled to return home and find things almost exactly as they left them. Their old colleagues are still working in the same jobs, dating the same women that they always said they would break up with, plodding along as if their life wasn’t a conscious act of creation – but instead, a train on a single rail, going back and forth between destinations… Or a simple clockwork toy, with a basic, prescribed set of behaviours, clapping its cymbals and dancing on the spot… A non-player character following its script. As a wise man once said, there is nothing which can show you how much you have changed, as to go back to a place where things are always the same.

But what if they are not just the same in our minds, but literally the same – never having changed since we’ve left? And when we get back, the simulation in which we live, struggles to formulate some sort of baseline level of story to present us with, when we return to our hometown. Our consciousness breathes life into these places, making it seem real once more, just for a few days or weeks while we visit. There’s no way we can ever know for sure, for whatever is outside the bounds of our awareness, must always remain outside the bounds of our knowledge.

In this episode, Kurt has a conversation with Aaron about his momentous return to his hometown, experiencing that feeling as if nothing has changed, noticing how people don’t recognise him any more, wondering what that says about him, and about the nature of the universe we live in. Peyote Spaceship: Contact With An Alien Intelligence – Part 2 – Episode 119

The Story – Contact With An Alien Intelligence – Part 2:

In this episode we discuss an event which Kurt experienced while on The Paradise Paradox desert-peyote adventure. This event may be considered as ‘contact’ – where Kurt describes a communication with an alien intelligence.

Here we have part 2 of a 2 part episode, If you haven’t already, click here to check out part 1 – where we discuss several important ideas to think about when considering that we may not be alone in this universe.

Returning to early communication methods, almost seems silly. However, a European on a hill doesn’t expect communication from a foreign race to come from a smoke signal. Radio waves could be equally unexpected to an extraterrestrial civilisation. And a lost human in the desert doesn’t expect communication from alien life to come from manipulation of light, or manipulation of time. But, perhaps, this is exactly how interdimensional life would need to communication, via manipulation of energy with no shared material, then of course we must consider communication through hallucinations caused by psychedelic medicine.

Kurt opens himself to a conversation with an alien intelligence, where he was able to exchange and share some very interesting thoughts. At this stage we know very little about the beings on the overside, however, we do know that it has been considered extremely significant. Enough that Kurt was gifted out of appreciation for his intention. Just for the act of trying, Kurt received a thank you and feelings of gratitude were expressed for the communication attempt. Although it seemed trivial, at the time (well not exactly) – this is something that had the power to alter past experiences and and potentially paths of time. Something happened out there, that completely exists outside this reality, so much so that what appears to be a moment from one perspective, could also be perceived as an eternity.

Clear the schedule and get out the to do list – this is a true account from The Paradise Paradox peyote diary.

Peyote Spaceship: Contact With An Alien Intelligence – Part 1 – Episode 118

The Story – Contact With An Alien Intelligence:

In this episode we discuss an event which Kurt experienced while on The Paradise Paradox desert-peyote adventure. This event may be considered as ‘contact’ – where Kurt describes a communication with an alien intelligence.

Here we have part 1 of a 2 part episode, where we discuss several important ideas to think about when considering that we may not be alone in this universe. Standing amongst the vastness of the desert and witnessing the endless stars above, one is left feeling very small, and it was hard to believe that we are the only ones here. Under the influence of peyote and feeling the presence of life all around you in every direction – it became very obvious that we were not.

Assuming that we are not alone, and assuming that we are quite primitive in comparison to other intelligent life, would an alien intelligence even notice us, or be bothered to contact us. Or better, how would they choose to make contact? How would they say, “hello”?

Returning to early communication methods, almost seems silly. However, a European on a hill doesn’t expect communication from a foreign race to come from a smoke signal. Radio waves could be equally unexpected to an extraterrestrial civilisation. And a lost human in the desert doesn’t expect communication from alien life to come from manipulation of light, or manipulation of time. But, perhaps, this is exactly how interdimensional life would need to communication, via manipulation of energy with no shared material, then of course we must consider communication through hallucinations caused by psychedelic medicine.

Strap in for an overdose of reality shifting and dimension bending story time – a true account from The Paradise Paradox peyote diary.

The Story:

For centuries, millenia, or perhaps since there was no time, people have been taking journeys out into the desert of Mexico to take the sacred medicine known as “peyote”.

If you’re willing to go out into the desert and take the adventure of a lifetime, as the sun starts to go down, you might start to see the shadows of spirits stretching out from the horizon – fallen Aztec warriors, and forgotten kings and queens still sitting on their thrones, perhaps not knowing their empires are now long gone. Who is waiting out there to meet you? Will you have the courage to say “Hello”?

In this episode we describe an adventure we took out into the desert of San Luis Potosí, to stretch the boundaries of our minds. We hope you’ll join us on a brain-bending journey on this episode of The Paradise Paradox!

The Story:

Many millenia ago, certain people started to work with herbs and other plants, healing the bodies and souls of their tribespeople. Over time, they learnt how to use certain plants to form a connection with some deep part of their unconscious, tapping into wisdom of unknown origin, which would, slowly but surely, affect the fate of humanity. Some shamans claim they contact spirits, and by using psychedelic drugs, they can come into contact with the divine.

In this episode, Kurt had a chance to catch up with Luis Fernando Mises at Anarchapulco 2016 and discuss shamanism. We discussed the contrast between San Pedro/huachuma and ayahuasca – how huachuma is like a patient grandfather who is ready to work with you at your own pace, and how ayahuasca is like a stern granddmother; how huachuma gave Luis a master’s degree on economic policy, how the roles of shaman, consultant and gun-owner are more harmonious than it might seem at first, and how psychedelic medicine can have a domino or fractal effect through many lives.

The Story:

Madre Ayahuasca has friends in high places. One becomes informed of this as you begin to question your own free will. The decision is made and you think that you chose to take part in this Ayahuasca ceremony. However, it is common knowledge among experienced travellers, that Madre Ayahuasca chooses you. Diving deep, peeling back all layers, it delivers a massage to your core seed, the personal connection to this world is disconnected and shakes clear all the cobwebs from your reality. Once all is clear, rattled and well shaken, the reconstruction begins. Literally your mind and your perceptions are rebuilt before the reflection in your mind’s eye.

It’s safe to say that the medicine works in mysterious ways – the effect is felt days before the ceremony. This is well before anything is even digested. Obviously, this is one mother that does not respect clockwork, as if ‘father time’ had been escorted out of the room. The symptoms can be uncomfortable and you might feel not quite right. However, it’s what comes in the following weeks that cannot be explained. Things begin to change.

Madre Ayahuasca leaves you homework with various methods used for the teachings. Usually in the form of a mixed bag of feelings, old and distant memories and direct clear visions. For some psychonauts this is straightforward and almost like a well thought-out lesson plan, whereas, for others, it can be slippery dip of deep forgotten traumas – either way, there is nothing random here. The medicine knows you too well.

In this episode, we discuss the week after drinking the medicine and the experience of ayahuasca homework. Using the metaphor of a Rubik’s cube clicking into place, to explain the wonderful ways life influenced by your new insights. As always prepare to be connected to the dis-connected through another exciting episode of … The Paradise Paradox!

The Story:

Ayahuasca is a medicine that has been used by indigenous Amazonians for 5,000 or possibly even 10,000 years. But it’s not really the kind of thing you can get over the counter. Ayahuasca is seen as sacred, and must be given respect – a brew of pure life in a cup that has the power to show us things that we’d forgotten, memories that we had tried to bury, and hidden wounds that still need healing.

What lurks in the deepest recesses of our minds, our shadows, our occult sides, our basest secrets? Mother Ayahuasca knows, and she will never judge us for it.

Join us as we prepare for our first journey with the sacred medicine, preparing ourselves mentally and physically for a long trek through unknown lands. Join us, on The Paradise Paradox.
